Timeless Mucha, is part of a major collaboration between the Mucha Foundation and VIVE Arts, which will offer an exciting new way for audiences around the world to discover the artistic work of Art Nouveau pioneer Alphonse Mucha and to engage with the Mucha Foundation and the Mucha Family Collection. Bringing the physical and virtual worlds together, the sale will take place in parallel with the opening of the exhibition Mucha to Manga – The Magic of the Lineorganised by the Mucha Foundation, which will run from 18 December 2021 to 5 April 2022 in Taipei. The exhibition will invite visitors to see the development of Alphonse Mucha’s signature linear style and how it has influenced subsequent generations, from the psychedelic artists of the 1960s and 1970s, to Japanese Manga artists from the 1970s to the present day, as well as contemporary artists in Taiwan. The first NFT drop will include editions of 2, 10 and 30 of some of Alphonse Mucha’s best loved images: La Dame aux Camelias, Reverie and the series of decorative panels The Arts: Painting, Poetry, Dance and Music.

The inaugural sale will be followed by new NFT drops on the platform at the start of each month, throughout the duration of the exhibition, featuring iconic works such as ZodiacThe Moon and the Stars series, Job and the theatrical poster for Gismonda, starring the most famous Parisian actress of the time, Sarah Bernhardt. The final sale will take place in April 2022, with a special two-week auction, which will commemorate the 110th anniversary of the completion of the first three paintings of Mucha’s monumental series The Slav Epic in 1912, which were gifted to the City of Prague that year. Two NFTs have been created of Slav Epic VR (2019), an immersive VR work of art, commissioned by the Mucha Foundation and VIVE Arts and created by award winning digital studio Nexus Studios. The VR artworkwhich premiered at the National Palace Museum in Taipei in 2019, brings to life the vivid world represented in the first canvas the Slav Epic, The Slavs In Their Original Homeland and invites viewers to ‘step inside’ Mucha’s imagination and viscerally experience the emotional depth of his creation. One NFT of Slav Epic VR will remain at the Mucha Foundation and one will be available to purchase, with a VR headset included in the sale. All proceeds from the NFT sales will support the mission of the Mucha Foundation.
